Here’s an example of a scammer getting £80,000 from a victim. The introduction was via a dating app, I don’t know which one but every dating app will have scammers – both male and female. The scammer then persuaded the victim to download a fake wallet app that had been made to look like Coinbase (a legitimate crypto site). The victim sent funds to the fake wallet where their balance was reflected accurately but of course, their money was extracted immediately. One of the main lessons from this sorry tale is to avoid downloading programs and applications that are not from official sites. Official sites will have genuine software that is security checked and safe. Unofficial sites are scam sites that want you to download software specifically created to defraud you whilst appearing genuine.
